Total Eclipse Day

April 8

The RHCS School Board has decided to extend spring break by one day this year, taking the day off on Monday, April 8. You likely have heard that on Monday, April 8, there will be a total solar eclipse crossing parts of North America, and relatively close to Kalamazoo. A total eclipse of this magnitude is a once or maybe twice in a lifetime event at best. Kalamazoo will experience a darkness peak (95-96% eclipse) shortly after 3:00 p.m. Other cities in northwest Ohio and central Indiana will experience a total eclipse. Several RHCS families have expressed interest or have already made plans to travel a few hours to these cities to experience this rare occurrence. The School Board would like to encourage families to take advantage of this extra day off of school and view, experience, and appreciate God’s handiwork and His sovereignty over creation during this eclipse. Due to this extra day off, RHCS will resume classes for all students following spring break on April 9, and preschool and kindergarten classes WILL be held as well, on TUESDAY, April 9.
