BA from Calvin University in Secondary Education English with a minor in writing.
Teaching Experience: Even though this is my first year teaching, I have mentored students through Kids Hope USA and have done various other “roles” through tutoring and internships.
I am originally from Kalamazoo but moved up to Grand Rapids to complete my teaching degree from Calvin University. I graduated in May 2020, and even though my graduation was not at all what I expected, I’m glad that it brought me to RHCS.
Grand Rapids has a special place in my heart, but it’s been nice to be back “home” in Kalamazoo. I was drawn to RHCS because of the small class sizes, clear importance of faith, and the tight-knit community. I love being able to really get to know my students, which is something I value a lot about the classes I teach here. I am teaching 7/8th grade Bible, Literature, and Grammar; high school American Literature and World War 2 through Literature; and PE. I am very thankful for the opportunities RHCS has provided me with thus far.
In my spare time I like to read, camp and hike, play tennis, and spend time with my family and friends. I am engaged, so a lot of my recent free time has been spent planning a wedding with my fiancé, Ethan! I love to learn, and I am looking forward to continuing to learn with and from my students this year at RHCS.
