BA from Providence Christian College with concentrations in secondary education and English
Teaching experience: 3 years
Originally from the small town of Orange City, Iowa, I grew up in a large family with two brothers, three sisters, and a love for learning and reading. After graduating from Unity Christian High School I left on my first adventure to attend a liberal arts college on the west coast, Providence Christian College. There I found my calling to teach.
After graduating in 2016 I moved to Atlanta, Georgia, to serve as a Resident Advocate for a low-income tax credit apartment complex. While I loved serving God in this community, I knew he was calling me to teach. I embraced the next adventure and moved to Kalamazoo in 2017 to teach English, Bible, and Science at RHCS. I love helping students find their passions and interests, from learning about the world God created and how we are called to take care of it, to exploring stories and books, to acting as servant leaders in our community. In class we focus on the idea of showing “unbelievable kindness” to everyone we encounter. As we learn, we remind ourselves of Colossians 3:23-24: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the LORD not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the LORD as a reward. It is the LORD Christ you are serving.”
When I’m not teaching, you can find me with my nose in a good book. I love to share and recommend books to others too!
